It's been a while since we read a story of how someone got extremely lucky with their purchase. While it's uncommon to see users getting free hardware, it's usually more common to see customers snagging cheaper PC hardware from their local stores. Although such stories don't pop up every day, they have become quite frequent on Reddit, where many users have shared their stories about grabbing a GPU or a PC build for an incredibly low price.
One such user is u/klcp20, who managed to snag a powerful mid-range gaming build for a much lower price than it was listed for. The user reports weekly grocery shopping when he stumbled upon this crazy deal at Costco. Costco and Walmart are well-known for such deals, and in this case, the user's eyes were drawn to this iBUYPower gaming PC that brought a promising configuration.
However, Costco was offering an incredible discount on this PC. As you can see, the original price was $1,899, but the discounted price was way lower at just $1,140. This PC was also apparently the last one on the display, which convinced the user to immediately buy it. Given that the PC would easily cost way over $2,000 with the current configuration, the user didn't hesitate and grabbed it for a good $1,220.
The PC brings one of the most powerful gaming CPUs paired with the popular mid-range RTX 50 series card. However, the configuration was more valuable due to 32 GB DDR5 RAM and 2 TB SSD storage, both of which can easily cost nearly $1,000 combined if bought separately. On top of the configuration, the user also received a free keyboard and mouse, which is a great add-on.
Once again, this story should convince you to check your local Costco and you might end up with a valuable hardware for much cheaper.
