Powerbeats Pro 2 now launched

The tech community has long been waiting for the successor of Powerbeats Pro, which was released originally in 2019 and was a fitness-oriented earbud with high-quality audio and great durability. The earbuds are by Beats by Dre, but since Apple acquired the electronics company in 2014, they have been part of Apple's ecosystem. Powerbeats Pro 2 has been much anticipated, with many leaks sharing their expectations for the new model and the upgrades it would have. The wait is finally over as Beats officially announces the launch of its Powerbeats Pro 2 with some noteworthy changes and a sleeker look.

Beats unveils its long-awaited Powerbeats Pro 2 with ANC capability and a transparency mode owing to Apple's H2 chip

The original Powerbeats Pro was revolutionary in terms of its offering, especially when it served as a health and fitness tool. Now, the expectations for the successor have been massive, and users have been waiting for the release for quite a while. With Beats finally announcing Power Beats Pro 2, the first similarity we notice is the price being retained, as the new fitness buds are priced at $249. While the classic ear hook design has also been continued, the form factor has been revamped to give a sleeker and more modern look.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 is about 20 percent smaller in comparison to its predecessor and lighter to wear, making it not only aesthetically appealing but also more comfortable to wear for a longer duration. The charging case has been shrunk by about 33 percent, and the most interesting part is the extended support for Qi wireless charging and USB connectivity. This, however, is not the major selling point, as the earbuds come with heart rate monitoring capabilities that can be used during workouts or generally to keep track of fitness and health. Rumor has it that Apple plans to add more features to the Powerbeats line, similar to the AirPods.

Each earbud comes packed with LED optical sensors that help track blood flow, making it a strong alternative to other wearables that are purely dedicated to fitness. For iOS users, heart rate monitoring is more seamless, especially when the feature starts and stops automatically when using a supported fitness step. Android users would have to manually activate the feature through the Beats app. Beats knows it is vital to have a proper seal for a more accurate reading, and it adds five sets of ear tips that cater to varied ear shapes.

Another significant upgrade is the Active Noise Cancellation feature, which was added, as well as Transparency Mode to the new Powerbeats Pro 2, which was missing from the original earbuds. This update has been made due to the integration with Apple's H2 chip, which brings features that are part of Apple's ecosystem, including hands-free Siri support, audio sharing, personalized spatial audio, Find My Integration, and more.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 comes with extended battery life that can last up to 8 hours with ANC active and 10 hours without ANC. The total case battery life can last up to 45 hours, which helps with enjoying extended use without the need to charge constantly. While the water resistance rating is still the same, the new earbuds offer better durability due to the changes in the venting system that help protect against water seeping in and have a robust ear hook. The Powerbeats Pro 2 comes in four color options: black, gray, purple, and orange, and it is available for purchase starting today. You can order yours from Amazon right now, with expected delivery starting from February 13.
