Pixel 9a renders show new camera bar

Google is known for constantly bringing iterations to its product lines and not being afraid to experiment with new designs for every new generation. It has not been long since the Pixel 9 series came out with some major tweaks, and now the hype has shifted to the upcoming Pixel 9a, the company's budget-friendly model. Given the price hike that the recent models have seen, people have high hopes for an affordable smartphone that brings premium Pixel features at a reasonable price. Now, a leaked render has emerged that gives away the design of the Pixel 9a and a sneak peek at what to expect.

Leaked renders give users a first look at the upcoming Pixel 9a and highlight a significant design change

The Google Pixel 9 series was announced at the I/O event 2024, held in August. Though it has been a little over a month since the release of the most anticipated Google lineup, attention has now shifted to the Pixel 9a, especially for users looking for a budget-friendly option. The launch is expected to come at the next I/O event in Spring, but new leaks give away some valuable insights on the design.

Android Headlines shared 5K renders of the pre-production phase, which is the first look we have at the mid-range phone. You immediately notice that the camera bar of Pixel 8a no longer has the classic visor look and is now a pill-shaped, less protruding camera module. This is visually a huge change, and it seems that Google is opting for a more modern, streamlined look, especially with the thin bezels around the screen.

There are not many other design changes, as the Pixel 9a is still shown to have rounded edges and a camera cutout in the display, just like the previous series. Other than the new camera module, nothing significant has been changed in the given images.

Currently, sparse information is available on the 9a model, but it is expected to come with Tensor G4 and have a larger battery than the 8a. The display is also expected to resemble the Pixel 8a, standing at 6.1 inches and having a similar storage capacity. More details will emerge as the launch date approaches, so stay tuned.
