Finally, the developer has agreed to add support for its latest title on Intel Arc GPUs following community backlash.
After Facing a Backlash, Pearl Abyss Says it's "Working on Compatibility" to Offer Game Support on Intel Arc GPUs
To many, it came as a shock to find out that the current Steam Top-Seller, Crimson Desert, isn't supported on Intel Arc GPUs. Initially, users reported they couldn't launch the game on Intel Arc GPUs, and later the official website's FAQ confirmed that they aren't supported. However, the more shocking part was the developer's response regarding Crimson Desert owners, as it advised users to apply for a refund if they were hoping the game would run on Intel Arc GPUs.
Thankfully, today, the developer has announced that it will bring support to Intel Arc GPUs on both social media and the official website. Pearl Abyss apologized for the "confusion" regarding the game's compatibility on Arc GPUs, but the message was clear. The developer has removed the previous statement, which explicitly stated that the Intel Arc GPUs aren't supported. After the backlash, Pearl Abyss reversed course and is now working to add support for these GPUs, but did not disclose an expected release date for the update.
This announcement comes right after Intel's statement, which we published yesterday. Intel announced that it's ready to assist Pearl Abyss in bringing support to Arc GPUs. Now, as both collaborate to ensure the game can run on Arc GPUs, users are advised to wait for the update if they have already bought the game.
