When Blizzard announced it would be "dropping the 2" from Overwatch 2 and going back to just 'Overwatch,' it also confirmed that the long-running hero shooter would be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 sometime this year. Now, we know exactly when the title that dropped its '2' will be launching on the console that gained one, and that's tomorrow, April 14, 2026, alongside the launch of Season 2 for the Reign of Talon.

Blizzard detailed the arrival in a larger blog post about what's coming in Reign of Talon's Season 2, like the new Hero getting added to the game, Sierra, a new DPS hero and the first new hero to arrive after Season 1 debuted a batch of five heroes at once.

Post-match accolades are also back with the start of this new season, and the season will kick off with the Operation: Grand Mesa event, a three-week event that evolves players' understanding of Sierra as a character through unlocking lore about her as you complete specific challenges.

There's also a rework of the Antarctic Peninsula Map "to create cleaner engagements, smooth out team pushes, and make meaningful flank routes throughout the arctic tundra," Blizzard writes. Ramattra, Pharah, Reaper, Solider: 76, and Mercy are also each getting slight perk adjustments, and of course there is a slew of new cosmetics to purchase and earn through the battle pass.

And you'll be able to experience all of it on the Nintendo Switch 2, which Blizzard claims will include "better visuals, higher fidelity audio, and up to 60 FPS in both docked and handheld mode" to make it "a much stronger way to experience the game" compared to the version on the original Nintendo Switch. "It's a cleaner, crisper, portable version of Overwatch that still lets you play with your friends wherever you are."
