OpenAI adding new ChatGPT voices

OpenAI seems to be aggressively evolving its AI technology by constantly enhancing ChatGPT with new features and capabilities. It has not been long since the company announced Advanced Voice Mode, which comes with four preset voices: Juniper, Ember, Cove, and Breeze. It is aimed at providing users with a more human-like experience with the tool better equipped to interpret emotions and varied situations. The company is not stopping here as it is reportedly working on bringing additional voices for ChatGPT users to make their experience even more natural and less monotonous.

OpenAI is said to be bringing up to eight new voices for ChatGPT that are focused on being more natural and expanded to nonverbal and animal sounds

OpenAI's ChatGPT has gained immense popularity in recent times, with the AI chatbot becoming a go-to for users due to the constant new features and advancements it keeps bringing forth that tend to blur the distinction between chatbots and humans with more realistic and contextual conversations. Users who did try their hands on the Advanced Voice Mode and the four preset voices that come with it and want to explore the tool more would be relieved to know that the company is working on new voices to bring more variation and cater to more sounds.

OpenAI understands that working with four voice options can serve to be limiting and to cater to this need; it is now bringing in eight more voices to ChatGPT, which would now bring the total voice options to twelve, giving users a great variety to choose from. As per the Testing Catalog, the latest reverse engineering report gives us insight into the new voice options that are coming soon. The new voices would be coming alongside the existing ones, namely Fathom, Maple, Glimmer, Orbit, Harp, Vale, Ridge, Rainbow, and Reef.

Apart from each voice having its own distinctive quality and bringing a new, fresh layer to the existing voices, they are apparently packed with more advancements. The new voices will be even more natural than the previous ones and better cater to non-verbal sounds. The new capabilities would allow the AI chatbot to offer noises and sounds more accurately and be able to imitate animal sounds more realistically, such as dog barks.

The new ChatGPT voices are also better equipped to adjust emphasis and tone according to the text formatting, such as more expressions being given when the text is in bold or highlighted. Currently, the additional voices are available for reverse engineering alone, and no timeline has yet been given for when the voices will be officially rolled out to the public. Still, it would be refreshing to see new voices that are more human-like and accurately represent and understand non-verbal sounds.
