The upcoming One UI 6.1 update appears more significant than I initially thought. We talked about how the new update is going to bring many AI-focused features, and now, we have some more information on what the update is going to provide to all Galaxy users.

Samsung Keyboard will have several generative AI features to help users type better and smarter, thanks to One UI 6.1

A new leak now suggests that One UI 6.1 is going to feature a number of generative AI features for the Samsung Keyboard, which I believe is still the best keyboard app available on any Android smartphone. The feature was discovered recently as a part of the Samsung Remote Lab, which allows developers to test the latest update. You can check the video below to see how the phones will have different LLMs to choose from.

As you can see in the video above, One UI 6.1 will bring a number of LLMs for you to choose from. There is PaLM 2, ChatGPT 4, Gecko, and Scs. You also have the option to use on-device generative AI or LLM, which does seem like an interesting option.

Sadly, at the moment, we are not sure about the extent of generative AI capabilities that will be featured in Samsung Keyboard once the One UI 6.1 update rolls out. Yet, it is safe to say that the company is working hard to ensure that these features make their way to Samsung users next year. I recently also heard about a feature that will let you draw a circle around anything on screen and have the AI explain it.

Based on my understanding, I feel that One UI 6.1 will debut with the Galaxy S24 series next month. As for whether we see these features on other devices or not, that is still something that we will have to wait for, but I do think that some version of AI-based features will make it to older Galaxy phones, too.
