NVIDIA is reportedly working on fixing "black screen" issues with GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs as the firm prepares for a new driver update that will fix the problem for some users.

NVIDIA Is Now Working On Fixing Black Screen Issues With RTX Blackwell GPUs, Recommends Users Wait For The New Driver

It seems like Team Green is actively resolving problems related to its RTX Blackwell GPUs, which is something to appreciate. While NVIDIA hasn't officially sorted out the "black screen" issues yet, a Redditor apparently got a new BIOS update for their MSI Gaming Trio RTX 5090, which did resolve all the black screen issues and, according to them, brought in a performance increase as well. This means that AIB partners are indeed working to fix the problem, but for those who are experiencing it due to their respective firmware.

NVIDIA's representative confirmed that the VBIOS update is a part of fixing the black screen issue in general, but this solution doesn't apply to all users. For those unaware, the "bricking" problem, in particular with NVIDIA's RTX 50 GPUs, isn't linked to the BIOS only, but it is claimed that the issue might be due to the onboard driver, or the PCIe connection. So, to resolve the problem, Team Green will release a new GPU driver later this week, which is said to hopefully end all the troubles.

Consumers experiencing the problem are advised to check the latest firmware available for their GPU from the respective AIB partner and update it. If that doesn't solve the issue, they should wait for the upcoming driver update. The issue could also be PCIe signaling, and according to our previous post, you can resolve it by downgrading to PCIe 4.0, which is a more well-established standard.
