PC GPU shipments reached 74.7 Million Units in Q2 2025 as NVIDIA continues to gain more share than AMD & Intel.

PC GPU Shipments Reach 74.7M While PC CPU Shipments Reach 66.9M Units In Q2 2025, NVIDIA Gains Versus AMD & Intel

NVIDIA continues its spree to gain GPU market share in the second quarter of 2025, reports Jon Peddie Research. According to the research firm, the global PC GPU shipments reached 74.7 Million Units while PC CPU shipments reached 66.9 Million Units. PC GPUs will have a compound annual growth of -2.9% in the 2025-2028 period and will reach an installed base of almost 3 Billion Units (2994 million) by the end of the forecast period. Discrete graphics cards will have a market penetration of 23% over the next five years.

Comparing the year-to-year trend, total PC GPU shipments increased by 4.9% while desktop graphics cards (Discrete GPUs) increased by 11%, and notebook shipments increased by 2.5%. This means that currently, the market is more responsive to the discrete graphics cards. Both NVIDIA and AMD released their brand new GeForce RTX 50 and Radeon RX 9000 offerings this year, and the supply has started to get better versus the earlier months. Prices are still higher, but they are normalizing, and most GPUs are available close to or at MSRPs.

Looking at the market share for the Total PC GPU market, both AMD & Intel declined, with AMD falling -2.4% from the previous quarter and Intel falling -1.9% from the previous quarter. Meanwhile, NVIDIA's market share increased to 24%, a 4.3% increase versus the previous quarter. This shows that the graphics giant has once again managed to outsell its competitors and gained a huge chunk of share.

Considering that discrete graphics cards were the biggest gainer this quarter, we can see NVIDIA's market share climb to new heights in the dGPU market once that report is out. As per the Q1 2025 report, NVIDIA commands a 92% market share. The competition had fallen to single digits in the previous quarter & it could be even lower for them this quarter.

Besides GPUs, we also have the PC CPU shipment report, which shows that AMD managed to bump up the unit shipments by 27%, a massive increase versus Intel's 2% bump. Overall, the CPU shipments were up by 8% this quarter. The PC CPU market has increased 12.9% from last year and 7.9% from the last quarter.

As of Q1 2025, Desktop CPUs hold a 33% market share, up from 29% in the previous quarter and 24% in the previous year, while notebook CPUs amount to 67% share, down from 71% in the previous quarter and 76% in the previous year.
