With the Nothing Phone (3) set to launch next month, the surrounding hype is intensifying, with many calling the smartphone the company's most ambitious device to date, to be delivered as a true flagship phone. Up until now, speculations have given away quite a few details about the upcoming device, and we are expecting a major design shift as the Glyph Interface is expected to either not be seen or to come in a different form, stepping away from the classic look.
We have been hearing about the phone featuring Qualcomm's top-tier Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite chip, and it looks like that might not be the case as the company has now confirmed the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset.
Nothing just confirmed that the Phone (3) would be featuring the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chipset and is calling it the most advanced processor in its smartphone yet
Nothing is gearing up to launch its Phone (3), which is being positioned as the company's true flagship device because of the premium features and outlook we might be seeing with the device. The company recently spilled the beans on the chipset the upcoming phone would be featuring, and instead of Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 Elite, it would be running the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 chip, which is also a powerful alternative to the Elite version.
This news was officially confirmed by Nothing over X (formerly Twitter) and also on its Community forums. Then, a 40-minute video was uploaded on YouTube detailing the Phone (3) featuring the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4. As per the company's claim, it would be the most powerful processor used on any of its devices yet, marking a major boost in performance. Carl Pei suggested that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 was not a compromise but rather a deliberate choice for the balance it provides in performance and efficiency. He explained in the video:
We really have to outperform our previous flagship, so compared to Phone (2) it’s going to be 36% faster on CPU, 88% stronger on GPU, and 60% stronger on the NPU. But what it means in practice, it will feel a lot snappier.
Everything enhanced.

While Pei leaves out specifics regarding why this chipset was used over the top-tier one for the Phone (3), he did highlight how this would be the first time the company would be featuring a newly launched, current chipset for its phone which might help understand the reason the company is opting for the chip. It could be that the company aims to use more up-to-date hardware to deliver a flagship-level experience, as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 would help provide the right balance and make the device more accessible in terms of pricing as well.
Carl Pei also emphasized that with Nothing Phone (3), the focus is on delivering a holistic experience for its users by ensuring sustained performance in addition to better specifications. Nothing Phone (3) is expected to be unveiled on July 1st, and more details will emerge as the launch date approaches. For now, we expect the company to make a statement about its upcoming device.
