Noctua Confirms LGA 1700/1851 Cooler Compatibility With LGA 1954 Socket; Says, "No additional Mounting Parts" Needed
Prominent CPU cooler manufacturer, Noctua, just confirmed in an FAQ that its existing CPU coolers that are compatible with LGA 1700 and LGA 1851 sockets will also be fully compatible with the upcoming LGA 1954 socket. This is yet another proof that the upcoming Intel platform for Nova Lake desktop CPUs won't force users to upgrade to new CPU coolers.
Noctua has affirmed that its coolers won't need any additional mounting parts, which means the existing coolers will be compatible out of the box. This is good news for LGA 1700/1851 platform owners who would want to upgrade to Nova Lake in future. We could see this coming since in various leaks, we saw LGA 1954 boasting the same dimensions (45mm x 37.5mm) as LGA 1700 and LGA 1851 sockets. Similar dimensions help retain cooler compatibility, even though it's possible that the hotspot may shift on the CPUs.

Last month, Thermaltake also confirmed that its new MineCube 360 Ultra ARGB AIO will be compatible with the LGA 1954 socket. While it was spotted on the official specs page, which explicitly mentioned "LGA 1954", other LGA 1851-compatible coolers from Thermaltake as well as other major cooler manufacturers should support the newer platform.
Nova Lake is set to release next year for both desktop and mobile platform, and will be the first Intel series to offer competitors to AMD's X3D CPUs by offering bLLC-equipped chips.
