Nintendo has released its most recent financial results, revealing that global Switch sales have now surpassed 139.36 million.

Nintendo published its financial results for the company's third quarter of its current fiscal year (which runs through March 31, 2024), and from the looks of it, there's no stopping Switch sales. In the last quarter, Nintendo managed to ship another 6.9 million Switch units worldwide, and the hybrid platform is now close to 140 million sales. Out of those 6.9 million shipped units, 3.48 million came from the Switch OLED model, whereas the Switch Lite shipped 1.27 million units and the "regular" Switch shipped 2.15 million units globally. "Although unit sales decreased year-on-year, sales have been stable given the fact that the platform is in its seventh year, and the
results were generally in line with our expectations", Nintendo writes in the explanatory financial sheet.

With the Switch family now close to 140 million shipped units, the hybrid platform appears to be on track to surpass PS2 lifetime sales sometime next year. If so, Nintendo's platform will become the best-selling console of all time next year.

Meanwhile, while many expect Nintendo to introduce a new Switch sometime later this year, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa said that the current Switch continues to be Nintendo's "main business" going into 2024 (via Bloomberg). The Nintendo President said something similar back in October of last year, although the executive then stated that the current Switch will be the company's focus through March 2024.

As for global software sales, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has now sold 20.28 million copies. Back in November of last year, Nintendo was reported to have sold 19.5 million copies, meaning that Nintendo managed to sell another 780.000 copies in three months. Meanwhile, the freshly-released Super Mario Wonder has already sold close to 12 million copies (11.96m), and Super Mario RPG sold 3.14 million copies. Nintendo's top-selling Switch game remains Mario Kart 8 Deluxe which now sits at 60.58 million copies globally.
