Nintendo fans and Nintendo Switch 2 owners have a lot to look forward to in 2027-2028, if interviewer Kiwi Talkz is to be believed. Reece 'Kiwi Talkz' Reilly, who you may recognize as a YouTuber who regularly interviews game developers and someone who has occasionally leaked accurate information ahead of its official reveal, has shared his latest tidbit that's stirred speculation, and it points to more Metroid, Zelda, and Smash Bros. to look forward to.

What 'more' for any of those franchises means is less clear. There's the Legend of Zelda movie that's coming next year, which Reilly mentions, but he adds that there's also "another game" coming next year. That could likely be the heavily rumoured Ocarina of Time Remake, or it could be something still unknown.

As for Metroid, Reilly simply claims there's "another Metroid game on the near horizon," which could be the rumoured Super Metroid Remake, and, again, something else entirely. But what's most eye-catching about Reilly's claim is that there's something to do with the Smash Bros. franchise.

"These are my 4 favorite game franchises of all time and it's great that I know all 4 IP's have stuff coming either soon or in a year or two," Reilly wrote on X (formerly Twitter) in a post that shared images of the Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Smash Bros, and GTA 6.

"GTA 6 in November, another Metroid game on the near horizon, Smash Bros in the next year or two and another Zelda game & the movie in 2027."

Reilly has further clarified that "nowhere in the tweet did I say any of these games are NEW. Maybe they are, maybe they aren't but I was vague for good reason to protect devs, it could be new, it could be a spinoff, it could be a remaster, it could be something on NSO. Don't jump the gun and get ahead of yourselves."

So don't get too excited that it's a 'brand new' Smash Bros game, especially since we're still lacking an official Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade. That is realistically the first 'new' Smash Bros SKU to arrive for Nintendo players, but several Switch 2 upgrades have come with DLC, so perhaps we're getting some DLC for Smash Bros Ultimate.

Regardless, it seems clear that Nintendo is hoping to have a very big couple of years ahead of it to keep momentum going for the Nintendo Switch 2. Hopefully, we'll have a clearer and more official idea of what the short and long-term plans for the Switch 2 are, soon.
