A Nintendo Switch 2 modder upgraded the system's battery, addressing one of the system's most critical flaws.
In a new video shared today on YouTube, known modder Naga, who previously modded an original Switch system with increased RAM which brought significant improvements in all sort of games, even allowing demanding open-world games like Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingodm to run at higher resolutions and framerates than on a vanilla system, shows how they have upgraded the Nintendo Switch 2 vanilla 5,220 mAH battery with an 8000 mAh battery. Unfortunately, the video doesn't feature any tests, so we don't know the new battery's life, but the fact that the system boots after installation shows how this is a viable upgrade to make, if someone knows what they are doing. Hopefully, some actual tests will follow to show if this is something worthwhile doing for those willing to open their systems.
The disappointing battery life isn't the only critical flaw of the Nintendo Switch 2 that feels like a step back from its predecessor. One of these flaws is the display, which is problematic in a number of ways with worse motion quality than the original Switch's display and disappointing HDR support.
