This week is a very good one for Nintendo fans all over the world, as some new details regarding the company's next console, the Nintendo NX, have started emerging online. A few hours ago, another piece of very interesting information has emerged online thanks to a reliable source.
In a new article posted on the Wall Street Journal website by Takashi Mochizuki, it's been revealed that the Nintendo NX might be compatible with the company's smartphone games. The article is currently behind a paywall, but several, such as Dr. Serkan Toto, have confirmed that the WSJ article revealed this new information indeed.
.@mochi_wsj casually drops this: "(...) that NX would be a handheld-console hybrid that would be compatible with its own smartphone games."
Considering the smashing success of Pokemon Go, Nintendo NX being compatible with smartphone games would make quite a lot of sense. As Nintendo has yet to talk about any of the rumored NX specs, we must take all this with a grain of salt.

If the console will indeed use the Nvidia Tegra X1, the Nintendo NX could be thought of as a "turbo powered last gen console". While this would be disappointing for a home console, it's definitely impressive for a handheld.
According to a report from Eurogamer, the Nintendo NX will be a high-powered handheld console with detachable controllers, with some sort of dock station allowing players to connect it to the TV. As previously rumored, it seems like the console will indeed use cartridges.
