While one of this week's upcoming showcases was taken off the calendar today, another has been added. Nintendo announced it will host an Indie World Showcase Direct tomorrow, March 3, 2026, at 6am PT / 9am ET / 2pm BT.
The showcase will be roughly 15 minutes long and provide updates on upcoming indie games heading to the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch, and it is the first Indie World event since the last one took place on August 7, 2025.
Last time, we were told not to expect Hollow Knight Silksong news, since the game's release date had yet to be revealed at the time of that direct. This time, even though Silksong is out on every platform possible, there is still Silksong-related news to look forward to. Before 2025 came to a close, developer Team Cherry announced that it was working on a DLC expansion for Silksong set to release sometime in 2026.
The Sea of Sorrows DLC could get its release date at tomorrow's Indie World Showcase, which would easily make it a showcase worth tuning in for. Megabonk, another one of 2025's beloved indie titles, could also appear with DLC news.
Another potential reveal could be the release date for one of the year's hottest indie titles, Mewgenics, making its console debut on the Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. We could also potentially hear news about Deltarune, Super Meat Boy 3D, and Vampire Crawlers.
Due to it being an Indie World event, it's unlikely we'll hear about any Nintendo-owned IP, since these events are usually chock-full of third-party games. But its appearance does give fans hope that we'll see some proper, first-party Nintendo news soon. It's not uncommon for Nintendo to host a major, general Nintendo Direct event shortly after a smaller showcase like these Indie World events.
We've already seen Nintendo host two other Direct events this year, a Partner Showcase event that took place last month, and a Direct event dedicated to the upcoming Super Mario Bros Galaxy Movie in January. It feels like Nintendo is setting up what its 2026 will look like, so hopefully tomorrow's event includes some great indie news, and is followed by some bigger Nintendo news in the coming weeks.
