The next generation Xbox console development is not being led by the team that oversaw the creation of previous consoles, according to rumors circulating online.

Speaking during the latest episode of the XboxERA podcast, as clipped by @oliver_drk, @Shpeshal_Nick commented on the next Microsoft console, saying that he has heard from unspecified sources how Jason Ronald, who led the development of previous Xbox consoles, including the Xbox Series X|S, is not working on the next console, as the Surface team is now leading development.

While this rumor is obviously unverified and must be taken with a huge grain of salt, it falls perfectly in line with rumors that started circulating online last week, which talked of a handheld SKU for the next generation Xbox that will be capable of running games natively while also featuring cloud gaming support. If the Surface team is the only team working on the system as a whole, it will be interesting to see how this would influence the other SKU, which is said to be a traditional home console in the vein of the Xbox Series X.

No matter if these rumors regarding the next generation Xbox are true or not, the gaming business at Microsoft is seemingly going through some major changes, as it is rumored that some Xbox exclusives are going to hit other consoles soon. An official update is planned for this week, so it won't take long to get clarification on the matter.
