Apple will ensure this year that the iPads are not behind smartphones in display terms. The flagship industry has transformed and now, edge to edge displays are the norm. However, current talk in the industry is focused on the iPhone. It's natural, as the lineup accounts for 70% of Apple's current revenues. A recent survey showed that Cupertino also dominates in tablets. And with smartphones all done with, it's time Apple starts off Q2 with the iPad.
True to form, rumors for the tablet increase in pace daily. Yesterday, Chinese sources claimed that Apple will push Face ID on the iPad. This makes intuitive sense, as facial recognition on a larger form factor will ease usage much more compared to a smartphone. But, before you get your hopes up, we've got some fresh supply chain speculation today. This claims that while minimum bezels will make it on the tablets, Apple will not launch a True Depth camera setup on its 2018 tablet.
Apple's busy at multiple fronts this year. Not only is it facing Senate hearings, it's also stretched to the limit with iOS 11. The policy of making its mobile operating system conform to the iPhone X is creating problems for other devices. Today's information might create some more for Apple.
