iPad for 2018 to Get Face ID Plus Reduced Bezels Just Like the iPhone X

Thins are finally heating up for iOS. Apple's iPhone X launch is over, and now the company can focus on the iPad, hopefully. Yesterday, we saw a rumor believing that Apple will conduct an event in March, with the iPhone SE2 and this year's iPads. For the iPad, it's claimed that Apple will introduce Face ID on the tablet. However, an opposite rumor from the supply chain rules this possibility out. Take a look below for the details.

Fresh iPad Rumor Rules Out Touch and Face ID On Upcoming iPads; Apple Rumored To Devote Complete Front Real Estate For The Display

Apple will ensure this year that the iPads are not behind smartphones in display terms. The flagship industry has transformed and now, edge to edge displays are the norm. However, current talk in the industry is focused on the iPhone. It's natural, as the lineup accounts for 70% of Apple's current revenues. A recent survey showed that Cupertino also dominates in tablets. And with smartphones all done with, it's time Apple starts off Q2 with the iPad.

True to form, rumors for the tablet increase in pace daily. Yesterday, Chinese sources claimed that Apple will push Face ID on the iPad. This makes intuitive sense, as facial recognition on a larger form factor will ease usage much more compared to a smartphone. But, before you get your hopes up, we've got some fresh supply chain speculation today. This claims that while minimum bezels will make it on the tablets, Apple will not launch a True Depth camera setup on its 2018 tablet.

Apple's busy at multiple fronts this year. Not only is it facing Senate hearings, it's also stretched to the limit with iOS 11. The policy of making its mobile operating system conform to the iPhone X is creating problems for other devices. Today's information might create some more for Apple. Sources now believe that Apple will also remove Touch ID from the iPad's front, making the back its new position. This is highly unlikely, if you consider Jony Ive's design sense.

Even though they increase in pace, talk about 2018 iPads is a bit pre-emptive. There have been no consistent rumors for a H1 event from Cupertino, so take everything with a grain of salt for the time being. That being said, whenever the next iPad does launch, it'll be interesting that's for sure. Most importantly, if Cupertino does launch Face ID on the tablet, then it'll have the required data to accurately judge user interaction. Thoughts?
