MSI is all set to launch its best AM5 overclocking motherboard, the MEG X870E-Unify-X MAX, with up to 10,600 MT/s DDR5 support.
MSI MEG X870E Unify-X MAX Motherboard Unleashes Soon - Top CPU & Memory Overclocking For AM5
MSI's long-awaited MEG X870E Unify-X MAX motherboard is launching soon. First unveiled at CES 2026, the motherboard has long been in the making, and it looks like MSI has finally tweaked out their latest entry on the AM5 platform.
So starting with what we know, the Unify-X MAX is part of the enthusiast MEG series, and being a Unify-X motherboard means that it is leaving no gears untouched when it comes to its overclocking design. The MEG X870E Unify-X MAX is the first Unify motherboard designed for the AMD AM5 socket. We tested the Z890 variant of this motherboard, and it was a phenomenal experience, offering some of the fastest DDR5 overclocking capabilities. Now, the Unify-X is coming to AMD Ryzen CPUs.
As per the details, the MSI MEG X870E Unify-X MAX motherboard features a powerful VRM design and provides power to the AM5 socket through dual 8-pin connectors. The board features two DDR5 slots & supports up to 128 GB capacities with speeds of 10,600 MT/s (OC+). Expansion slots on the board include four PCIe slots, of which two are x4, and two are x16 (2 x Gen5 x 16 - 8x/8x).
There are five M.2 slots (2 Gen5x4 / 2 Gen4x4) on the motherboard, all of which are cooled by large Frozr heatsinks, and the whole assembly features easy DIY accessibility with an EZ PCIe release mechanism and toolless M.2 SSD installation. There are also two SATA III ports, a DEBUG LED, Power On/Off buttons, and an additional 8-pin + 6-pin connector setup to feed the motherboard more power when it's fully loaded and prepped for overclocking. There are 20 USB ports on the motherboard, which include:
- 2 x USB 40 Gbps (Type-C)
- 1 x USB 20 Gbps (Type-C)
- 9 x USB 10 Gbps (8 Type-A + 1 Type-C)
- 4 x USB 5 Gbps (Type-A)
- 4 x USB 2.0
Other highlights of the motherboard include a Tuning Controller, which lets users adjust OC parameters and also the BCLK. The motherboard, being a "MAX" series product, supports full BCLK adjustments, and the VRMs come with an advanced Direct Touch Cross heatpipe solution with 9W/mk thermal pads. Other features include a 5GbE LAN port, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 8-channel Audio. The MAX series also has a 64 MB BIOS which is neat.
We can expect MSI to launch this motherboard very soon, given that it's already been three months since its CES unveiling.
