MSI is launching newer OLED monitor models quicker than ever and now we have a new model called MAG 274QP QD-OLED, which offers almost identical specs to the 272QP.

MSI Rolls Out 240 Hz MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 27-inch QHD Gaming Monitor at $499; Delivers Samsung's 3rd Gen OLED Panel

Hardware and peripheral maker, MSI, has been delivering several new OLED monitors this year, including flagship offerings that touch 500 Hz refresh rate. The company is now taking care of the mid-range segment as the vast majority of users aren't able to afford those $800-$1000 OLED monitors. While the cheapest OLED gaming monitors still sell for over $400, the new MSI offering brings more competition to the market.

Recently, MSI launched its MAG 274QP QD-OLED X24 gaming monitor on Amazon, which is quite identical to the MAG 272QP QD-OLED it launched in September this year. After carefully going through all the specifications of both models, it appears that the newer 274QP is slightly nerfed in connectivity. However, this time MSI is explicitly stating that the MAG 274QP QD-OLED uses Samsung's 3rd gen QD-OLED panel, while for the 272QP model, it just states "Latest OLED" panel on the website.

Both are essentially the same when it comes to specifications. The newer 274QP QD-OLED brings a 26.5" display with 2440 x 1440p resolution. It can go as high as 240 Hz for fluid gameplay and offers Adaptive Sync for tear-free gaming experience as well. This monitor is also certified by VESA for ClearMR 13000 and offers reduced motion blur. The response time is 0.03 ms GtG and the color gamut is also decent and includes color spaces like 99% DCI-P3, 98% Adobe RGB, and 138% sRGB.

Color accuracy is Delta E < 2, making it suitable for color-grading as well, and of course, you get the true 10-bit color depth for up to 1.07 Billion colors. The monitor appears lackluster in brightness, similar to the 272QP model, offering just 200 nits in the SDR mode and up to 400 nits in HDR. As far as the differences go, the 274QP QD-OLED doesn't have a USB Type C port with Alt DP and is also 1 kg heavier as per the spec sheet. The display outputs are the same, including 2x HDMI 2.1 and 1x DP 1.4a.

It's interesting to see that the slightly superior MAG 272QP QD-OLED launched for $420 in China, while the newer one is right now sitting at $499 on Amazon. Hopefully, the price comes down in the coming weeks or months.
