The MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 offers decent specifications for an enthusiast's gaming experience for an affordable price, and unlike MSI's flagship QD-OLED QHD offering, it offers half the refresh rate.
MSI Launches MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 for $420, Offering 1440p Resolution with up to 240Hz Refresh Rate, 0.03ms Response Time, and up to 400 Nits in Brightness
Popular hardware and peripheral manufacturer, MSI, isn't just launching the fastest QD-OLED gaming monitors, but it's also taking care of the mid-range segment for those who can't spend nearly $1000 on an OLED gaming monitor. It has just announced a new mid-range QD-OLED gaming monitor that cuts down some of the specs of the flagship MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50. The new monitor is called MAG 272QP QD-OLED "X24", which is quite identical to the X50 offering in many aspects.
As reported by IT Home, the monitor offers the same resolution, the same QD-OLED panel, and almost similar connectivity and ergonomics as the X50 variant. The only downgrade here is the refresh rate, as the MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 runs at up to 240Hz refresh rate compared to the 500Hz on the X50. This is still sufficient for smooth and competitive gaming performance, and can be categorized under the "high-end" segment while its price point remains in the mid-range category.
The monitor is also nerfed in brightness and offers 200 Nits in SDR mode and up to 400 Nits in HDR mode. This is 100 Nits lower in both modes compared to the X50, which is surely lackluster. The panel offers an incredible 1.5M:1 contrast ratio for superb blacks and features a competitive 0.03ms GtG response time for quick frame transitions. The display also boasts a wide color gamut, including color spaces like 98% Adobe RGB, 99% DCI-P3, and 138% sRGB, which are the same as on X50. You also get the true 10-bit color depth for over one billion colors output.
Since the refresh rate is almost half of the X50, you will be able to get uncompressed visuals through the HDMI 2.1 ports, but the monitor also has a DP 1.4, which will do the job for 8-bit encoding. Unfortunately, the X50 variant couldn't achieve such a feat through its connectivity ports due to absense of DP 2.1 UHBR20. Nonetheless, the X24 variant makes more sense in this regard and considering it's officially priced at 2,999 Yuan in China, which translates to around US$420, it's going to be excellent for enthusiasts.
The MAG 272QP QD-OLED X24 is currently available on JD for as low as 2,299 Yuan or US$322 for Plus members.
