Minisforum has showcased its next-gen AMD Ryzen-powered products, such as a new MoTD & Mini PC with the Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" CPU.
Minisforum Offers Two Brand New AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" Products In MoTD & Mini PC Flavors
During the "Japan IT Spring Week", Minisforum displayed its latest and upcoming products that make use of AMD Ryzen CPUs. These products include MoTD (Mobile on Desktop) motherboards, Mini PCs and NAS systems.
Minisforum F1FGM MoTD Motherboard - AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX "Fire Range" For Desktop Builders
Starting with the first product, we have the Minisforum "F1FGM," which is a continuation of the MoTD series with the latest CPU. The motherboard comes in a mATX design and features proper heatsinks across the VRMs, M.2 Slots, PCH, and even has an IO cover. The motherboard is the true successor to the BD770i and BD790i series, which feature Dragon Range "Ryzen 7000HX" CPUs. This time, you'll be getting the latest Fire Range "Ryzen 9000HX" series CPUs.
The MoTD can be configured with up to the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX CPU, which offers 16 cores and 32 threads based on the Zen 5 core architecture. The chip has a boost clock of up to 5.4 GHz and packs a total of 64 MB of L3 cache. The chip is rated at 55W by default, but this desktop-grade "mobile" chip can be tuned up to 160W on this particular motherboard, offering a high-end experience to users.
The board will also be configured with other CPUs, including an "X3D" option, and for cooling, the cooler will be mounted on top of a vapor chamber baseplate since the mobile CPUs don't come with an IHS. The VRM is a 13-Phase Duet rail design with 60A SPS power stages.
As for other specifications, the motherboard features four DDR5 DIMM slots in a standard UDIMM design. So you can expect up to 256 GB capacities and some nice speeds (up to 8000) supported on this board. The other important thing is that the chipset is the X870M, which is also a mobile-grade design, but should be close to the B850 series. There are two PCIe slots (5.0 x16 & 4.0 x16) along with three M.2 slots, of which one is rated at Gen5x4 speeds. Two SATA III ports are also provided, and you get the latest IO such as USB4, 5GbE LAN, and WIFI7. There are also two BIOS DEBUG LEDs.
Minisforum MS-A2 Mini PC - Strong IO In A Mini Design With Fire Range CPUs
The other PC featuring the AMD Ryzen 9000HX "Fire Range" CPUs is the MS-A2 Mini PC. This will be extending upon the MS-A1 series, which featured Ryzen 8000G CPUs. With Fire Range CPUs, these Mini PCs also come with the latest IO solutions, such as three M.2 slots (one can be used as U.2), 10 GbE LAN through an SFP+ port, and a PCIe 4.0 x8 slot that can support a low-profile card.
Unlike the MoTD, the motherboard on the Mini PC is different and comes with two SO-DIMM slots that offer up to 96 GB capacity support and 5200 MT/s speeds. IO includes 2 USB 3.2 Gen Type-C, 2 USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 2.0, two 10 GbE LAN ports, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.0 and DP+HDMI outputs.
Minisforum N5 PRO Brings Strix Power To NAS Systems
And finally, we have the Strix-powered "N5 PRO" NAS, which features up to the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 CPU with 12 cores, 24 threads, and the Radeon 890M iGPU. The NAS houses five 3.5-inch bays, which can be configured in RAID, and it comes with a toolless design, making it easy to remove and install drives from the system. The system can be equipped with up to 48 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMMs and has a single PCIe 4.0 x4 slot for a video interface solution.
Each drive bay can house up to 22 TB of HDD space, and there are also three PCIe 4.0 M.2 slots (2x Gen4x1 and 1x Gen4x2). For interface, there's a single 10 GbE and a single 5 GbE Ethernet port with IO coming in the form of three USB 3.2 Gen1 ports.
Minisforum is expected to launch these latest solutions in the coming months, so stay tuned for more information.
