In order to keep up with the AI race of 2024, Microsoft has decided to go through another rebranding, and this time, it is being done to its browser - Microsoft Edge. For those wondering, Microsoft Edge: AI Browser is the name that the company has decided to go with on both Android and iOS, and this change is slowly rolling out to all users.

Microsoft Edge: AI browser is the latest name for Microsoft's browser to shine a light on the browser's AI capabilities

AI will be a big thing for almost all the companies this year. With Samsung releasing phones based around AI, Google asking users what they would like to see in Bard in terms of features and changes, and a lot of other companies bringing their own generative AI, it seems like the right time. Microsoft has decided to go ahead and rebrand its browser to Microsoft Edge: AI Browser. This is coming a few days after the company released the Copilot app on both Android and iOS.

The change was spotted by Tierney Cyren on Twitter, and you can check that out below:

Although Microsoft Edge: AI Browser is the new name, the overall functionality has not changed, and you are still getting all the features that you had before. Honestly, there is nothing really wrong with the process of rebranding a product or service, but you have to look into just how it serves the purpose. I feel it is unnecessary to market something as prominent as AI, and the approach Microsoft has taken or the approach other companies are taking makes it look like they desperately want people to notice that their products or services now offer AI capabilities, as well.

Whatever the case might be, Microsoft Edge: AI Browser is not rolling out to everyone at the time of writing. I checked on my phone, and I can see that the rebranding has been done, but a few people I know have rebooted, and it still has not shown up. Considering how it is already rolling out, you won't have to wait long before you can see the rebranded version on your Android or iOS device.

About the author: I have been tinkering with Android devices ever since the early days of the HTC Desire. Over time, I have grown a fondness for the ecosystem and now I cannot live without it. Although some might believe that I have sold my soul to Android, but I believe it is not the case. You can find me writing tutorials and posting guides on a number of different smartphones. When I am not writing here, I am wasting myself away in books, journals, or on Steam.
