Mark Zuckerberg Believes The Meta Quest 3 Is A Better Product Than The Apple Vision Pro, While Being ‘Seven Times Less Expensive’

Meta Quest 3 is a better product than the Apple Vision Pro, says Mark Zuckerberg

Where a Microsoft executive previously praised the Apple Vision Pro while onboard a long 16-hour flight, Mark Zuckerberg has unsurprisingly sided with the Meta Quest 3, calling it a better product. He also takes a dig at the ludicrously high price of its competitor’s AR headset and says that the Quest 3 can perform lots of actions while being seven times cheaper.

Zuckerberg tried the Apple Vision Pro and provided his thoughts, concluding that the Meta Quest 3 is ‘the better product, period’

In an Instagram Reel, Meta’s CEO experimented with the new Apple Vision Pro and believes that while the Quest 3 does not exude better value, it is an overall better product. When Apple officially announced its first mixed-reality headset during WWDC 2023, it took Meta just three days to pre-unveil the Quest 3, likely since it sensed that the Apple Vision Pro would bring intense competition to this space.

Zuckerberg also took a jab at Apple’s loyal following, stating that ‘some fanboys get upset whenever anyone dares question if Apple is going to be the leader in a new category.’ He also goes on to state that Meta is going to be the open model. There can be a boatload of discussions on which headset is the better product, but one fact that no one can deny is that both products are made for different markets and customers.

The Meta Quest 3 targets the majority of users with its affordable $499 price, whereas the Apple Vision Pro targets affluent individuals with its $3,499 tag, which is only for the 256GB storage model. Of course, Apple does not intend to keep charging consumers an arm and a leg with every iteration, as there are reports that a low-cost model might launch in 2025 with some watered-down specifications, such as a display and chipset downgrade.

Zuckerberg does praise some aspects of the Apple Vision Pro, mentioning that the high-resolution display and eye-tracking sensors are ‘very nice,’ but states that this comes at the cost of the device’s ergonomics and comfort. In the Instagram Reel, the Meta CEO says that the company will bring eye-tracking sensors into future Quest products.

Another area in the crosshair of Zuckerberg was the lack of Apple Vision Pro apps that take advantage of the hardware. In comparison, the Meta Quest has a bigger library, but naturally, Apple will not limit the number of visionOS apps on the App Store as more are expected to be added by the end of the year. Whatever the case may be, we want our readers to participate in the poll below and let us know which headset they believe is the better choice.
