Apple just got done with officially releasing the iPhone 16e in major markets, but that is not the end of the company’s launches, because a bevy of products still await their imminent announcement, including the M4 MacBook Air lineup. A previous report stated that the updated 13-inch and 15-inch portable Macs would arrive in March at the earliest, with a new report stating that Apple would unveil the new machines by next week.
Apple’s current-generation iPad models are also witnessing shortages, but the M4 MacBook Air lineup will likely see a launch first
While Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman has not provided an exact launch date of the M4 MacBook Air series, there is a possibility that Apple pushes out a press release on Tuesday, since that is typically the day when the Cupertino firm makes the announcements. However, the iPhone 16e’s unveiling happened on a Wednesday, suggesting a possibility that the refreshed 13-inch and 15-inch models will go live on this day too.
The M4 MacBook Air lineup will more than likely stick with the same chassis as the M3 models, so Apple does not have to wait too long to release them in a multitude of markets. The M4, which first made its way to the iPad Pro family, then found its way in the MacBook Pro range, was recently tested on Geekbench 6, and in the Metal benchmark, the 10-core GPU recorded a measly 5 percent lower score on the M4 MacBook Air compared to the figure obtained by the MacBook Pro.
We suspect that this score difference resulted from Apple resorting to using a ‘fan-less’ design once again for the M4 MacBook Air series, but it will be interesting to see how TSMC’s second-generation process helps on the efficiency front. Given that the newer models will be stamped with a higher price, you can still avail a decent deal on Amazon for the M3 MacBook Air lineup, as the 13-inch and 15-inch models with 16GB of unified RAM as standard start from $899 and $1,099, respectively.
