At TGA 2023, Nexon announced the release window for its free-to-play cooperative looter shooter, The First Descendant. The game will be released in Summer 2024 on PC (Steam), PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X. The news was accompanied by a cinematic trailer featuring characters Valby and Viessa, as well as a new mysterious face.

Nexon also announced that over two million gamers played the recent Open Beta test from more than 200 countries, with North American countries being the most active. Over 3,405 years of playtime have already been spent on the test. Viessa proved to be the most popular character among the three available from the start, while Bunny, Gley, and Freyna were the most researched characters. The players' favorite weapons were Hero's Scar and Thunder Cage.

Of course, the main purpose of the Open Beta test was for the development team to gather feedback to improve the game. The First Descendant Producer Lee Beom-jun recently said:

We're going to make significant improvements to both missions and fields. We'll not only improve the quality of missions but also add necessary features for co-op play and matchmaking support for dungeon missions. And most importantly, we'll introduce new contents to the fields to make the gameplay more enjoyable. We've also received diverse feedback on the shooter play and action aspects of the game, and we're really encouraged that many have expressed a high level of satisfaction with various combat sound effects. We're planning to continue balancing the combat sound effects and adding more detail to increase the quality. In terms of gameplay, there were a lot of complaints of frustrated players due to the difficulty in obtaining ammunition, and I would like to say we're are also preparing various improvements for this issue.

The First Descendant is powered by Unreal Engine 5.2 and supports cutting-edge features like NVIDIA DLSS 3 (Frame Generation) and HDR10+ GAMING on PC.
