A new memory kit has arrived, but no details on pricing and availability yet.
Lexar Unveils THOR Z RGB DDR5 Memory Kit With Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO Support
Looks like high-performance memory launches will be rare now, as we are hardly seeing any RAM manufacturers debuting their new flagship DDR5 memory kits. We used to see a lot of them debuting in early 2025, and seeing memory world records getting broken was quite common. Since there is a ridiculous shortage of DDR5 RAM chips, manufacturers have now started launching budget RAM kits with baseline specs.
Storage and memory manufacturer Lexar has introduced its new DDR5 RAM series called "THOR Z RGB", which offers enhanced aesthetics. That's all that appears to have been marketed on the official website, as Lexar says the new RAM modules bring "Sleek, Minimalist Design", and "Brighter" RGB lighting. Of course, it also says "Fierce" DDR5 performance, but when you look at the specs, it's clear that it's not a top-tier kit.
The Lexar THOR Z RGB DDR5 is currently available in a 32 GB kit (2x 16 GB), offering speeds of up to 6000 MT/s at CL36 and CL38. The RAM kit brings Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO support, which would help users get even higher RAM speed through manual overclocking. We also saw that Lexar has another similar RAM kit called "THOR RGB 2nd Gen" DDR5, which is avaialble in up to 128 GB capacity.
| Capacity | 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) |
| Interface | DDR5 288-pin |
| Standard | Intel XMP 3.0 and AMD EXPO™ |
| Speed | 6000MT/s |
| CAS Latency & Voltage | 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 6000MT/s: CL38-48-48-96 / 1.35V 6000MT/s: CL36-40-40-96 / 1.4V |
Even the specs are quite similar, except that the new modules come with an additional "Z" branding on the heatsink. The RGB section remains unchanged and is large enough to deliver a bright, eye-catching glow. Using popular motherboard RGB software such as ASRock Polychrome SYNC, ASUS AURA SYNC, GIGABYTE RGB FUSION 2.0, and MSI Mystic Light SYNC, users can customize the lighting effects as per their wish.
Lexar hasn't announced the price and availability of the THOR Z RGB DDR5 32 GB kit, but we can already expect it to be released for several hundred dollars.
