Qualcomm is working on a new high-end chipset as per a renowned tipster

Qualcomm is actively working on expanding its product range by diversifying into broader categories and offering more varied pricing. Now, a new report claims that the company is working on a new high-end chipset that will focus on introducing a new tier falling between the Snapdragon 8 Elite and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. This move could potentially stem from the need to bridge the gap between the Snapdragon 7 series and the top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 lineup. By introducing another SoC in the "s" category, the intention remains to extend to more market segments by offering high-end performance without the price associated with the top-tier offering.

A new report claims that Qualcomm is working on a new chipset called the Snapdragon 8s Elite

Qualcomm is experimenting with its chipsets and pivoting into new directions by adopting new strategies that cater to more users and bring more flexibility for OEMs. Now, as per a renowned tipster's report, Digital Chat Station, Qualcomm is working on a new niche by introducing a high-end chipset. The Snapdragon 8s Elite is said to sit between the company's flagship and premium SoC, meant to offer near-flagship performance at an affordable price range.

As per the report shared on Weibo, the Snapdragon 8s Elite (Qualcomm SM8735) will feature a sophisticated CPU architecture that delivers high performance and efficiency. It would come with a well-balanced core configuration that includes a single high-performance Cortex-X4 core at 3.21 GHz and three performance Cortex-A720 cores clocked at 3.01 GHz, along with two Cortex-A720 efficiency cores at 2.80 GHz. Along with this, there would be two more efficiency cores operating at 2.02 GHz meant to be optimized for less demanding tasks.

If we look at Qualcomm's top-of-the-line Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, it seems to be purely focused on performance. It emphasizes power over energy saving as it does not come with dedicated efficiency cores. Instead, it has two powerful Oryon cores at 4.32 GHz and six performance cores clocked at 3.53 GHz. It stands out from earlier models with greater emphasis on raw computational power.

The CPU configuration for the Snapdragon 8s Elite and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are quite similar, but the cores for the 8s Elite come at a relatively lower speed, which further reflects how it is not meant to offer the full performance of the flagship chipsets yet offer strong performance. The report further claims that Redmi or iQOO might be the first one to power the chipset and could, in fact, appeal greatly to users looking for a premium mid-range phone. Although the report does not specify a potential release date for the Snapdragon 8s Elite, considering the previous pattern, it could be launching soon.
