Apple is slated to launch the iPhone SE 4 in the coming months with a design similar to that of the iPhone 16. It was previously reported that the device will be similar to the iPhone 14 with a notch on the top. However, the latest rumors have suggested that the SE 4 will come with a Dynamic Island on the top. While that remains to be seen, a dummy unit of the iPhone SE 4 has been compared against the iPhone 16 side by side, and it shows a surprisingly thicker camera ring.
iPhone SE 4 will look identical to the iPhone 16, but the single-lens camera will protrude quite a lot
The iPhone SE 4 is shaping up to be a pretty promising device, given how affordable it will be compared to the rest of the lineup. However, it will also come with a few compromises, like a single camera lens at the back. In a new set of images shared by Majin Bu on X, the iPhone SE 4 looks pretty identical to the iPhone 16 in terms of design. However, the form factor will be different because of its slightly smaller 6.1-inch display.
It can be seen in the embedded images that the device will look more or less similar to the iPhone 16 models. One of the most significant differences is the thicker-than-expected single-lens camera. From the side, it can be seen that the camera ring protrudes quite a lot compared to the camera bump on the iPhone 16. Another aspect that can be observed is the slightly raised plateau on the iPhone 16, which gives us the illusion that the camera module is not as big as it actually is.
On the iPhone SE 4, you do not get a slightly raised area of the glass housing the camera, as you only get a single camera lens enclosure. The lack of a camera plateau could be the reason why the camera appears to be quite thick. However, we will reserve our final judgment until the device is released.
At this stage, we are unsure if the iPhone SE 4 will feature an Action Button on the other side, as prior reports have suggested that the company would forego the Mute Switch for good. Additionally, it was recently reported that the iPhone SE 4 will also come with Dynamic Island on the front instead of a smaller notch, which would make the device appear a lot closer to the iPhone 16. On the inside, the device is also expected to be equipped with the company's A18 chip for faster performance and support for Apple Intelligence.
