Apple's iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to be a solid contender in the industry, with Samsung and Google consistently working to improve the user experience of their flagships. Apple unveiled iOS 26 recently, and while the Liquid Glass interface looks promising, the user experience still remains a mystery, at least for the masses. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models, on the flip side, are speculated to come with a handful of new changes, including bigger batteries.
iPhone 17 Pro Max could feature the best battery life on an iPhone, but it is not clear if silicon-carbon batteries will be used
In a new post, Weibo-based leaker Instant Digital claims that the iPhone 17 Pro will feature the biggest battery ever on an iPhone, and coupled with enhanced optimizations derived from the A19 Pro chip, the handset is slated to deliver the best battery life. In the post, the leaker listed the battery capacities of all the Pro Max models, starting from the iPhone 11 Pro Max to the iPhone 17 Pro Max. He claims that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will come with a massive 5,000mAh battery, up from 4,676mAh on the current iPhone 16 Pro Max. For comparison, check out the list shared by the leaker.
- iPhone 11 Pro Max: 3,969mAh
- iPhone 12 Pro Max: 3,687mAh
- iPhone 13 Pro Max: 4,352mAh
- iPhone 14 Pro Max: 4,323mAh
- iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4,422mAh
- iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,676mAh
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 5,000mAh
According to Apple, the iPhone 16 Pro Max has a battery life of 33 hours, which was up from 29 hours on the iPhone 14 Pro. With the estimates at hand, we can safely presume that the iPhone 17 Pro Max will feature a battery life of up to 35 hours or even more, depending on optimizations and additional efficiency improvements. As we have mentioned, Apple's A19 Pro chip could also contribute to the battery life, conjoined with the efficiency derived from Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon X80 modem. Apple is yet to use its custom modem chip on the main phones, which is known to bring massive battery life gains, as it did for the iPhone 16e. The company is also working on upgraded versions of its C-series modems, which will be available on future models of the iPhone. It is not clear at this stage if the company will use silicon-carbon batteries, but we will hear more details on the subject soon.
Apple will announce the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro models in September with some major changes. The iPhone 17 Air will potentially be the highlight of the event, and the company will sell millions of units in the first year of release, as mentioned by Jon Prosser from the YouTube channel, Front Page Tech. We will keep you informed with additional last-minute changes, so do stick around for more.
