Apple will officially release the iPhone 16 Pro on September 20, along with the rest of the models, but a commercial unit was recently spotted getting compared to its direct predecessor, the iPhone 15 Pro. After examining both handsets from all sides, it can be concluded that apart from minor cosmetic variations, there were hardly any differences between the two models. This pretty much means that if potential buyers want to upgrade and their most sought-after preference is a design overhaul, then the iPhone 16 Pro is definitely not for them.
New Camera Control button is the obvious addition to the iPhone 16 Pro, but even from a slight distance, the iPhone 15 Pro looks practically identical
A short comparison video was uploaded on X by Majin Bu, showing a ‘side by side’ comparison of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro. This year, Apple bumped the display size of the smaller ‘Pro’ model to 6.3 inches, up from 6.1 inches. However, that difference can hardly be noticed because from certain angles, the footprint looks nearly identical. It is likely that Apple took advantage of the rumored ‘Border Reduction Structure’ to reduce the bezels of the handset by 40 percent.
Following this approach meant that Apple could launch the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max with bigger displays but featuring nearly the same footprint as the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. We have also noticed that the iPhone 16 Pro’s camera bump appears bigger. Perhaps the most distinguishable difference between the two is the presence of the Camera Control button, as it takes up quite a bit of space on the titanium frame.

In a previous report, it was mentioned that Apple did not focus on the design this year but decided to address three complaints that customers voiced about the iPhone 15 models; overheating, battery life, and the lack of a physical camera button. Unfortunately, these improvements have materialized little benefits for Apple, as pre-orders for iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are 12.7 percent lower compared to the previous year, with the iPhone 16 Plus leading the pack with 48 percent higher pre-orders than the iPhone 15 Plus.
