New renders of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max were consistently reported to ship with bigger displays when compared to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, with the latest render gallery outlining the cosmetic changes arriving to this year’s flagship lineup. Additionally, Apple may reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, increasing the screen-to-body ratio of both ‘Pro’ models, along with other changes, so let us discuss in detail while also showing a few renders based on a bevy of leaks and rumors.

The new ‘A18 Pro’ chipset is also said to debut with the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max

The YouTube channel AppleTrack has provided a detailed rundown of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max, starting with the displays. After several years, Apple will finally be upsizing the panels of both models, going from a 6.1-inch screen size on the iPhone 15 Pro to a 6.3-inch one on the iPhone 16 Pro. With the iPhone 16 Pro Max, you are expected to see a 6.9-inch display, up from 6.7 inches on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

As the majority of you know, in addition to getting that increased screen real estate, the biggest advantage of a larger smartphone is that there is ample space to incorporate a bigger battery. Unfortunately, that might not be the case here, at least for the iPhone 16 Pro, as a prototype’s battery was listed with a 3,355mAh capacity, marking a modicum 2.48 percent increase over the iPhone 15 Pro’s 3,274mAh cell. Hopefully, these specifications will change because it is high time Apple maintains its pace with its competitors in using bigger batteries.

One of the most significant changes would be reducing the size of the Dynamic Island. In one of the renders, the iPhone 16 Pro is shown to feature a front-facing punch-hole cutout, and an earlier rumor even claimed that Apple was testing out one model with this particular design. It is entirely possible for the Dynamic Island to contract into a punch-hole cutout, but looking at Apple’s iPhone launch history, the company typically sticks with the same design for a few years before finally offering the global market something different.

There is also said to be a new capture button for video-capturing purposes. As for the cameras, both ‘Pro’ models arriving later this year are rumored to feature a 5x tetraprism optical zoom camera. Last year, just the iPhone 15 Pro Max was treated to this hardware, so upon the arrival of the newer handsets, consumers will be delighted to upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro without having to spend on the top-tier flagship. As for the chipset, AppleTrack believes that the ‘Pro’ moniker will be retained this year, with the new SoC being called the A18 Pro.

Earlier, leaked iOS 18 code revealed that Apple would not use the A17 Pro in the cheaper iPhone 16 models, but launch the A18 instead. Whether the A18 is just a re-branded A17 Pro is something we will find out in the future, but at this time, the company may mass produce an entirely different silicon.
