The start of the new year has not deterred the popularity of the iPhone 15 Pro Max, with one analyst commenting that for the first half of 2024, Apple’s top-tier flagship will command the highest ratio of iPhone 15 shipments, reaching between 40 percent and 45 percent. The exclusive upgrades of the 6.7-inch model likely contribute to its popularity, which is terrific news for Apple supplier Largan as it will boost its revenues for the first and second quarters of the year.
Tetraprism lens supplier Largan to financially benefit from increased iPhone 15 Pro Max orders
Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo did not share the estimated shipment tally of the iPhone 15 Pro Max but mentioned that Largan would benefit greatly by receiving more tetraprism lens orders from Apple. The shipment increase will reportedly boost Largan’s revenue for H1 2024, with Kuo stating that just the periscope lens alone is expected to prop the manufacturer’s revenues by $119.3-133.4 million compared to H1 2023. Looking at these differences, Largan could witness a 20-25 percent year-over-year growth.
While Largan continues to enjoy an influx of iPhone 15 Pro Max orders, Apple is reportedly preparing its iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max with the same tetraprism lens upgrade. With both flagships rumored to be treated to a telephoto lens, assuming Largan gets the majority of orders, it should result in healthy revenue growth for Q4 2024 once again. It is no surprise that the iPhone 15 Pro Max continues to sell in droves, though it is confusing that the iPhone 15 Pro does not share the same level of popularity despite having just a few differences from its larger cousin.
It is possible that customers were anticipating a telephoto lens upgrade on an iPhone for quite some time, and given that the iPhone 15 Pro Max offers other advantages over the iPhone 15 Pro, such as a bigger display and battery capacity bump, it was naturally going to win over the consumer. We expect the same differences to be present when the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max launch later this year, making one model the most popular out of the entire lineup.
