iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 released wth fix for an issue in the Photos app

Today, Apple has released iOS 18.6 for the iPhone with a fix for a critical bug in the Photos app that has been causing users issues for a while. It is surprising that iOS 18 is in its final stages before the iOS 26 release, and it still encounters bugs occasionally. As mentioned, the update is finally out of the beta phase and available to the general public for all compatible iPhone models.

Apple has released iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, macOS 15.6, watchOS 11.6, and more updates with bug fixes and security enhancements for all of its devices

iOS 18.6 is a minor update, considering the fact that it does not bring any new features to the table, but it is still an important update that fixes underlying issues. If you want to install the update on your iPhone or iPad, simply head over to the Settings app, navigate to General, tap on Software Update, and then follow the on-screen instructions to install it on your device. Take note that the process to install iOS 18.6 and iPadOS 18.6 is the same, so do not be alarmed.

As for what the update brings to the table, it is pretty standard – it brings important bug fixes and security updates to the iPhone and iPad, while also fixing a critical issue plaguing iPhone users for a while. Previously, users were finding it difficult to share memory movies in the Photos app, and the company specifically highlights the issue in the release notes of the iOS 18.6 update which you can check out below.

This update provides important bug fixes and security updates, and fixes an issue in Photos that could prevent memory movies from being shared.

If you have not installed the update yet, we would recommend you to do so right now, as the update also brings a slew of security updates to the table as well. Apple has also released iPadOS 18.6, macOS 15.6, visionOS 2.6, watchOS 11.6, and tvOS 18.6 to the public, which also come with a boatload of security updates and bug fixes for underlying issues.

iOS 18.6 is one of the last few updates that the iPhone would get, but any further updates would be just as minor as the current one. This is because the company has already started testing the iOS 26 update, which comes with a major Liquid Glass redesign, and it is due to arrive in September of this year for all compatible iPhone models. We will share additional details on iOS 18.6 and if it hides anything related to Apple’s unreleased iPhone 17 lineup. Have you installed the iOS 18.6 update on your iPhone?
