Intel's Jaguar Shores AI lineup is reportedly under discussion with ASIC designer Alchip, with development expected to be finalized by the first half of next year.

Intel's Jaguar Shores AI Lineup Would Determine Whether Team Blue Could Compete With NVIDIA/AMD In the Segment

Team Blue's AI plans have varied over the years, as initially, the firm was waiting to target the 'inference' segment of the industry. However, as time passed, the AI bandwagon gained momentum, and the firm was ultimately left behind. Intel recently announced plans to switch to an annual AI product cadence, and along with that, unveiled an 'inference-optimized' Xe3P 'Crescent Island' AI chip as well, showing its intentions to compete in the AI industry. According to information shared by @QQ_Timmy, citing Alchip's internal sources, Jaguar Shores is currently under discussion, with plans to be finalized by the first half of 2026.

For those unaware, Alchip is a fabless ASIC design services company that mainly targets customers looking to build custom products, and in Intel's case, AI GPUs. The firm also acts as a design and manufacturing partner, outsourcing the actual wafer fabrication to companies like TSMC, but focusing specifically on stages such as integration, design, verification, packaging, and test. Alchip is reportedly collaborating with Amazon on its Trainium AI chips, including upcoming solutions that focus on the 3nm process. The firm is reportedly a leading choice for companies seeking to get their ASICs up and running.

For a firm like Intel, utilizing Alchip's services for Jaguar Shores could be a beneficial take, considering that the Taiwanese firm has extensive experience in providing ASIC services to mainstream customers. Since Team Blue itself has not yet managed to develop a capable AI solution, Alchip's expertise could certainly help bolster development towards Jaguar Shores and also reduce the burden on Intel by handling parts of the manufacturing workload.

Of course, this is just speculation for now, but since the AI industry has become much more mature over the years, Intel would defintely find it beneficial to work with a partner to tape out a more capable AI product. For now, Jaguar Shores is expected to debut sometime next year, and judging by this report, a timeline of H2 2026 for mass production might be a suitable bet.
