While we wait for the first Intel Core Series 3 "Wildcat Lake" laptops to make it to retail, the company has showcased its own reference design, which offers a clean design with a slim aluminum body.
Intel Shows How Wildcat Lake Laptops Should Be Done With Its Reference Design, Awesome Colors & Fanless Operating In Low-Power Mode
Last week, Intel announced its Core Series 3 "Wildcat Lake" CPUs. These CPUs will be powering laptops, with MacBook Neo being aimed as their main competitor.
Now, Intel is showcasing its own reference design to the press, and honestly, it looks great. First up are the colors, which are a nice breezy palette, mixing aqua marine with creamy white, making it a perfect tech companion to take along with you on the beach. The relaxing colors can attract a lot of customers since that is one of the selling points of the MacBook Neo lineup, which comes in four different colors.
So yeah, no more boring black, white, or silver/gray designs, let Intel add some color to your life. And the best part is that while the laptop looks sleek and slim, it also features an aluminum body, which is another selling point for Apple's MacBook Neo. Vaidyanathan S states that the laptop is light in the hands, & from the pictures, we can see that the keyboard is surrounded by a side-mounted speaker array.
As for the specifications, the laptop is equipped with an Intel Core Series 3 "Wildcat Lake" CPU with 6 cores (2+4 core configuration), and features a 17 TOPS NPU. The specs for most users to get through their daily workloads.
Power-wise, the chip features a 17W PL1 mode, which is the base TDP, and a 35W PL2 mode, which is the power it consumes when running at maximum turbo speeds. There's also a 22W PL1 mode for users who want even higher performance, but most importantly, the laptop has a fanless mode too, which tones the PL1 power down to just 11W. In this mode, the fans on the laptop will stop spinning, leading to a noise-free operation, which is very cool.
No details on the display, how the keyboard and trackpad perform are mentioned, but we really hope that Intel's partners follow the reference design, as that could make Wildcat Lake a potentially awesome offering for mainstream and budget PC users.
