Intel's next-gen Arc Battlemage "Xe2" discrete GPUs are expected to launch in December, before the release of future GPU lineups by NVIDIA & AMD.
Intel To Be The First To Release Next-Gen GPUs With Its Arc Battlemage Lineup, Debut Expected Next Month Ahead of NVIDIA & AMD Launches
Intel's Arc Battlemage discrete GPUs and their release dates have constantly been evolving as we approach the end of the year; as in a previous rumor, it was revealed that Intel's upcoming desktop GPUs would launch by the end of November, around the Black Friday timeline.
However, based on information released by the renowned data miner Tomasz Gawroński, Intel is expected to release next-gen Battlemage desktop GPUs by December, and this information has been revealed by what looks to be an "official teaser" by Team Blue.
So the newest information suggests that either Intel's Battlemage dGPUs have been delayed from their "supposed" November release, or the firm had been aiming for a December launch since the very start. However, given that Intel decided to launch their upcoming "Xe2" desktop GPUs by the end of the year, the firm might very much be aiming for a release window earlier than the launch of NVIDIA & AMD's next-gen GPUs, which will give Team Blue the time to advertise its GPUs more earlier-on. Whether this will work out or not is a question for the future.
Not just Battlemage, but in a newer post, Gawroński has disclosed Intel's development on future Xe3 "Celestial" GPUs as well, which will be in full force with the launch of next-gen Panther Lake mobile SoCs. So overall, Intel's GPU lineup is indeed panning out to be an extensive one, but it all depends on the success of Battlemage to see if we will get another round of discrete GPUs. Intel hasn't abandoned its GPU development plans yet, but the company did state that it will focus more on integrated graphics solutions for its SoCs so that might be where Celestial "Xe3" lands if not for desktops.
For a quick rundown on Intel's Battlemage, the GPU lineup is set to be based on TSMC's 4nm process and features up to 32 Xe2 cores, up to 16 GB of memory, and up to 256-bit bus configurations. We have seen formidable leaks around the lineup, including the emergence of the BMG-G21, BMG-G10, and BMG-31 GPU dies. So, Battlemage is going to be jam-packed when it comes to specifications.
Intel's Battlemage in December, NVIDIA's "RTX 50" Blackwell, and AMD's "RDNA 4" or should we say "UDNA 4" will be launching in January 2025. Hence, the future months will be exciting ones for the PC industry, and how it moves in the future.
