Intel's GPU division is cooking up not just newer Battlemage "Xe2" chips but also preparing for future Xe4 Datacenter solutions.

Intel's Big Battlemage "BMG-G31" Support Once Again Gives Hope To Gamers While Xe4 Datacenter GPU Spotted In The Wild

Intel has once again listed support for its Big Battlemage GPU, the BMG-G31, within the latest version of XPU Manager. This support was added yesterday, and gives us even more hope that Intel will soon have a faster Battlemage discrete GPU based on the Xe2 architecture, besides the BMG-G21 and the many iGPU options.

Now this is certainly not the first time the BMG-G31 GPU has appeared, nor is this the first time it has been supported in official Intel software. Earlier this month, we reported on another software that added support for the BMG-G31 GPU, and there have been countless patches that have rolled out in 2025.

As for what we know about the Intel Arc Battlemage BMG-G31 GPU, it is supposedly going to feature four SKUs, and the Device IDs leak seems to align with that much. In terms of specifications, the Arc BMG-G31 GPU "Big Battlemage" is expected to feature up to 32 Xe2 cores, 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, and should be a nice upgrade over the Arc A770 if it's priced in the $300-$400 US segment. That should easily compete with NVIDIA's RTX 5060 and AMD's RX 9060 series graphics cards. The card also reportedly features a TDP of 300W.

In addition to the Big Battlemage GPU, which will still feature the Xe2 architecture, the future generation Xe4 GPU has also been spotted within a shipping manifesto at nbd.ltd. The listing states "Intel Data Center GPU XE4 Subsystem," which is interesting, but this is a listing from 2023.

We know that Intel is currently working on a next-gen Data Center chip based on the Xe3P architecture, codenamed Crescent Island.

So the Xe architecture still serves a relevant and important space in the high-end segment despite the rumor mill continuing to limit its future presence within just iGPUs. The Intel Xe4 "Arc" lineup was going to be called "Druid" and would've followed Xe3 "Celestial". But as per the most recent changes, Xe3 is still part of the Battlemage family while Xe3P moves to Celestial.

Xe3 will see its first implementation in Panther Lake CPUs under the Arc B-Series iGPU family, while Xe3P will see its formal introduction in next-gen Arc families for Nova Lake and discrete series. We do hope to see more discrete graphics action in the Arc segment as we move forward.
