Intel Core i9-14900KS Limited Edition CPU Leak: Up To 6.2 GHz Clock, Over 100C Temps & 400W+ Power Consumption 1

Intel's Core i9-14900KS CPU has leaked out and it features the fastest clock speed ever on a consumer chip, boosting up to 6.2 GHz.

Intel Core i9-14900KS "Special Edition" CPUs Takes The Crown of The Fastest Clocked Processor On The Planet

The leak comes from Isreal-based retailer, PC-Online, who have listed a range of pre-built PCs featuring the Core i9-14900KS CPU. The Core i9-14900KS is not official yet but it looks like Intel already detailed its PC partners, retailers, and distributors about the chip & they are already using this information which technically breaks their embargo with Intel (if there was any set in the first place). It was also rumored all the way back in May that the 14900KS would debut with a 6.2 GHz clock speed.

Coming to the specifications, the Intel Core i9-14900KS Desktop CPU should offer the same config as the Core i9-14900K with 24 cores in an 8 P-Core and 16 E-Core layout, 32 threads & a boost clock of up to 6.20 GHz which is 200 MHz higher than the Core i9-13900KS and the Core i9-14900K, both of which operate at up to 6.0 GHz. The CPU should also retain its 36 MB of L3 cache and 32 MB of L2 cache.

As for the TDP, well the Intel Core i9-14900KS should be more similar to the Core i9-13900KS than the Core i9-14900K with a base power of 150W and a maximum turbo power of 253W which should actually end up close to 300W as we have seen with the 13900KS.

The systems with which the chip is listed are weird since they use DDR4-3200 memory instead of the more future-proof DDR5 DRAM standard which makes more sense with a chip of this type. We would have said that this list was a mere typo if it wasn't for the fact that the clock speed is explicitly mentioned. Maybe the retailer is guessing the clock speeds based on the +200 MHz clock bump for each 14th-gen chip?

Regardless, an Intel Core i9-14900KS should be anticipated since the only thing that Intel has to offer until late 2024 (Arrow Lake-S) is a clock speed bump. There should be no architectural and core config update besides what you are getting with the 14th-generation CPUs right now. The CPU will definitely be breaking some world records since it's a binned variant of the 14900K. The 14900K itself has achieved up to 9.1 GHz which is a feat on its own. We can expect Intel to unveil the Core i9-14900KS either during the 14th December launch event for Meteor Lake / Emerald Rapids or at CES 2024.
