Intel's Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs, the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus & Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, are seeing a price bump before their retail launch.
Retailers Bump Up Intel Core Ultra 7 270K Plus & Core Ultra 5 250K Plus Prices Before Retail Launch, Now 10% Higher Than MSRP
Intel recently introduced its Arrow Lake Refresh CPUs, which got high praise for their value proposition. The CPUs added more cores, higher clocks, and new features such as the Binary Optimization Tool, which is proving to be a decent tech for gaming and standard applications.
Intel had originally priced its Core Ultra 200S Plus lineup really well, and the original MSRPs were used by the initial reviews for their recommendations. The Core Ultra 7 270K Plus was priced at $299, and the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus was priced at $199, with the KF model listed for $184. The RCP range had prices even lower than what Intel had officially disclosed, and can be seen below:
- Core Ultra 7 270K Plus RCP - $289-$299
- Core Ultra 5 250K Plus RCP - $189-$199
- Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus RCP - $174-$184
The CPUs are yet to hit retail shelves, but it looks like the recommended customer prices didn't hold up, as all major retailers are now listing the chips at least 10% higher than the higher range of the RCP. The Ultra 5 250KF is currently listed for pre-order at $199.99 at Newegg, which is 8-14% higher than the RCP.
The same is true for the other two models with the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus listed for at least $329 at B&H, which is 10-14% higher than the RCP. Other retailers such as Newegg and Amazon are listing the same chip for $349 & $357, respectively. That pushes the price bump to 17-19%. The Core Ultra 5 250K Plus is also not listed at either of the two RCPs, and the lowest option is $219, which is 10% higher than the RCP. The chip is also listed for $249 at retailers, which pushes the bump to 25%.
The following are the pre-order prices of each retailer at the moment:
- Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (Amazon) - $357 (+19.3%)
- Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (Newegg) - $349 (+16.7%)
- Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (Microcenter) - $349 (+16.7%)
- Core Ultra 7 270K Plus (B&H Photo) - $329 (+10.0%)
- Core Ultra 5 250K Plus (Amazon) - $249 (+25.1%)
- Core Ultra 5 250K Plus (Newegg) - $219 (+10.0%)
- Core Ultra 5 250K Plus (Microcenter) - $249 (+25.1%)
- Core Ultra 5 250K Plus (B&H Photo) - $219 (+10.0%)
- Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus (Amazon) - $227 (+23.3%)
- Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus (Newegg) - $199 (+8.1%)
- Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus (Microcenter) - $229 (+24.4%)
- Core Ultra 5 250KF Plus (B&H Photo) - $209 (+13.5%)
The news does align with recent news of consumer CPU prices going up. A few weeks back, we reported that Intel had reportedly told its partners about an imminent price hike, and it looks like the upcoming Arrow Lake Refresh is one of the lineups that has been affected by this. The biggest selling point for the Core Ultra 7 270K Plus and Core Ultra 5 250K Plus was their pricing, but with this price bump, budget PC builders might hold off their pre-orders until things normalize.
