The flagship consumer Battlemage discrete GPU appears to have bleak chances of an official launch.
Intel is Rumored to Launch the Pro B70 Workstation GPU While the Arc B770 Consumer Variant is Said to be Unviable Due to Financial Constraints
According to what the prominent leaker @SquashBionic reported, it appears that the reason for Intel to have delayed the launch of its flagship Arc Battlemage consumer GPU is financial constraints. We all know how, despite delivering much better performance and value than their predecessors, the Arc B570 and Arc B580 failed to attract gamers. Considering the poor performance on the market, Intel may not launch the Arc B770, which was supposed to compete with the lower mid-range GPUs.
We have been seeing a lot of leaks on the Arc B770 lately, but Intel never spoke a word about the launch. It's well-known that the BMG-G31 exists, but it isn't confirmed whether the gaming GPU it powers will see an official retail launch. According to @SquashBionic, the Arc B770 isn't financially viable, which could lead Intel to cancel it altogether. However, the workstation Pro variants are likely launching soon.
We have recently reported on one of those, which goes by the name Arc Pro B70. It's the professional Battlemage discrete GPU that uses the BMG-G31 die, featuring 32 Xe2 cores and 32 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. The Arc Pro B65 is yet another professional GPU variant with the same die, and there is supposedly one more Pro GPU in the lineup. According to a previous report, the BMG-G31 is supposed to power three workstation GPUs and one consumer variant.
The Pro B70 is supposedly coming this quarter, which is what other prominent leakers have confirmed as well. @SquashBionic says the Pro B70 may launch alongside the Arrow Lake Refresh announcement. So, we may see the Arc Pro B70 pretty soon. Unfortunately, gamers will have to settle for NVIDIA or AMD for faster, lower mid-range options for now. Even if Intel decides to release the Arc B770, it really doesn't seem to be in a position to challenge GPUs like RTX 5060 Ti or RX 9060 XT. Nonetheless, if Intel prices it well, it may be a viable option for gamers.
