More benchmarks are surfacing online, revealing a big jump in performance by Xe3-based iGPUs on Panther Lake CPUs.
Arc B390 Reportedly Delivers 2X Score vs Radeon 890M in Time Spy Graphics; Slightly Faster Than RTX 3050
It's well-known that 3D Mark tests favor Intel GPUs and higher scores in 3D Mark applications don't necessarily translate to similar performance in games. That said, the new benchmark numbers for the upcoming Xe3-based iGPU on Panther Lake series are looking too good. @OneRaichu reports that the Panther Lake iGPU, featuring 12 Xe3 cores, can deliver around 7,000 points in Time Spy Graphics.
This particular variant is the flagship iGPU called Intel Arc B390, which have seen multiple times in various leaks recently. In one leak, we saw it performing as good as the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti Laptop GPU, and the latest leak puts it above the GeForce RTX 3050 desktop GPU, which is very impressive. Do take the report with some precaution because the leaker didn't share any screenshots, and this is still an early engineering sample.
That said, if Arc B390 does manage to bring 7,000 points in Time Spy graphics, it's already around 2X the performance level of the RDNA 3.5-based Radeon 890M, which is an excellent integrated graphics. It also beats the Arc 140T on the Arrow Lake-H with a similar margin, bringing significant generational uplifts, unlike the CPUs, one of which was seen performing on par with the predecessor. Compared to higher-end integrated graphics such as the Radeon 8050S and Radeon 8060S, the Arc B390 still loses easily, but keep in mind that Panther Lake isn't a direct competitor to the Strix Halo.
Intel Arc B390 vs other GPUs
Compared to the RTX 3050 desktop GPU, it is around 12% faster, but in gaming, the performance difference probably won't be the same. @OneRaichu further reports that the Arc B390 can deliver solid 6,000 points in Steel Nomad Light as well, which is nearly 90% higher score than 890M and around 80% better than Arc 140T. It looks like Panther Lake has improved a lot in the iGPU segment, and this makes it an excellent CPU family for the high-end gaming handhelds, which should be much cheaper than Strix Halo-based handhelds.
