ASRock Z890 Taichi OCF Receives Intel Microcode 0x114 Update Ahead Of Official Release 1

Intel's latest Arrow Lake microcode might be rolled out as the "0x114" patch as hinted by ASUS and will be coming to Z890 motherboards soon.

Intel microcode 0x114 is expected to roll out in a few days and may be released with a new BIOS beta for Z890 motherboards

Intel's regressive gaming performance results for Arrow Lake "Core Ultra 200S" CPUs disappointed everyone and while its benchmarks didn't seem too good on paper, at least if Intel is able to bring the performance to that level, we may finally be able to compare it with the best gaming CPUs in the market at the moment.

Despite this, don't expect the Core Ultra 200S performance to touch the gaming performance of Ryzen 7 9800X3D. However, if the recent rumors are true, we could be seeing the performance of these processors equivalent to or better than the flagship Raptor Lake and Refresh chips.

As reported by a user on ROG Forums (via @9550pro), the microcode 0x114 is already in the works and may be released in the upcoming BIOS update. It's not clear whether it will be a beta BIOS or official.

Currently, some of the ASUS Z890 motherboards, including ROG Maximus Extreme, have received the latest 0x113 microcode update with the BIOS version 1101.

This BIOS update reportedly enhances the system stability and compatibility and brings some more updates for better gaming performance in the balanced mode. However, this isn't the actual microcode that should be the full fix as Intel has been very vocal about it and will release some statement when it's out.

Hence, it's safe to assume that the full fix should be available with the microcode 0x114, which will be released on all the Z890 motherboards from different vendors gradually. Nonetheless, we don't expect a huge improvement in gaming performance, but any noticeable performance boost will be good.

Intel was disappointed with the launch reviews since the processors didn't do as per their expectations. As of now, Intel doesn't have any strong desktop CPUs that could compete with AMD's Ryzen 9000X3D processors (9800X3D at the moment) in gaming, which has pretty much dominated the CPU market worldwide. Intel Arrow Lake chips do offer much better efficiency than predecessors apart from decent productivity uplift, but it seems like gaming isn't their specialty.

The company promised an update this month, so let's wait and see what the blue team has been cooking for those who invested in the latest CPUs or are still deciding whether to go the blue or red route.
