Last month, developers RocketWerkz and GRIP Studios announced that the popular survival game, ICARUS, would be making its console debut on February 26, 2026. Now, less than three weeks after that announcement, the studio has confirmed that ICARUS: Console Edition has been delayed by one month and will now arrive on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on March 26, 2026.
In a statement sent to Wccftech, the studio says that while the game is "in a strong and stable state," the delay will add enough time for the team to add further polish, "rather than launch with known issues."
"After careful consideration, we've decided to move the release date to Thursday, March 26," the studio begins in its statement. "This additional month will allow us to polish the gameplay and ensure the best possible launch."
"While the game is in a strong and stable state, we've identified a few areas that need further refinement. Rather than launch with known issues, we believe taking these extra weeks is the right decision for the game and players. Our team is fully focused on polishing the experience and game content to ensure it plays as intended across Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. Thank you for sticking with us, we're looking forward to welcoming you to Icarus soon."
Alongside the announcement of the delay, RocketWerkz has also revealed that it will host an AMA session in the r/SurvivalGaming Reddit tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17, beginning at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm BT, to give players a chance to ask any and all questions they have about the console edition, the delay, and anything else ICARUS-related.
The upcoming console edition will include the New Frontiers expansion, and if you pre-order the Console Edition, you'll also receive the Pet Companion Pack. On top of the base game, this gives those new to ICARUS plenty to dive into when it arrives on consoles next month.
