Huawei's Pura 70 series is a massive success over the P60 lineup

The Pura 70 family launched in China with four models on offer in April, and it quickly became one of the fastest-selling handsets in China, and to the extent that a Huawei insider has revealed that the company’s annual shipments increased 125 percent annually compared to the P60 series that was introduced last year. The initial shipment target for the former Chinese giant with the latest lineup was 10 million units, and looking at its current pace, it is likely that Huawei will achieve its goal relatively comfortably.

More Huawei smartphone shipment details revealed that the company shipped 6.2 million Mate 60 Pro units in China in just five months of its launch

The entire Pura 70 range comprises of the standard version, followed by the Pura 70 Pro, Pura 70 Pro+, and Pura 70 Ultra. While there are no details mentioned as to which model ended up being the most popular, Sina Technology, a Weibo account, was spotted by Huawei Central to have received information from an insider, informing the outlet of the company’s incredible rise to the top and how the Pura 70 shipments increased by 125 percent year-over-year compared to the P60.

During the Pura 70’s inception on April 18, it was reported that the Mate 60 Pro shipped 6.2 million units in just five months of its launch. Now, according to the latest update, Huawei has achieved a new milestone with its previous-generation flagship launch, as cumulative shipments reached 10 million units. We believe that the reasons why the Pura 70 models have garnered immense popularity are due to the newer Kirin 9010 chipset, followed by the improvements in the imaging department that Huawei introduced, particularly with the Pura 70 Ultra, which touts a retractable lens.

To keep the competition like Apple on their feet, Huawei is rumored to introduce the Mate 70 family later this year, and even though it was previously mentioned that the Kirin SoC powering the new models would be the mass produced on SMIC’s 5nm process, it appears that there will be some alteration to those plans. For one thing, Huawei may have to re-use the older 7nm node for the new Kirin silicon, meaning that the Mate 70 may not bridge the performance and efficiency gap with its upcoming rivals.

Hopefully, Huawei will come up with a solution quickly, or else it will be forced to discount its Pura 70 series to maintain smartphone shipment traction. The company recently completed construction of its ‘state of the art’ R&D center, so let us see what updates we receive in the future.
