The US government decision to limit American companies from doing business with Huawei has been the focus of the tech world since May 16th, when the company and its 68 affiliates were put on the Entity List, and a temporary permit was granted to the company to enable it to support existing handsets and customer equipment. While the Department of Commerce's decision to add the 69 companies on the Entity List came on May 16th, the temporary permit came into effect on the 20th of May.
Now, as the back and forth between the US and Chinese governments continue, we've come across a report stating that the price of Huawei's flagship smartphone, the P30 Pro, has fallen on several British retailers. Take a look below for more details.
Huawei P30 Pro Loses Its Trade-in Value Heavily As Customers Become Uncertain Of The Company's Future
Huawei's P30 Pro has top of the shelf camera and processing hardware. The gadget runs on the company's 7nm Kirin 970 processor and has a camera setup delivering unprecedented results in low-light environments. The smartphone and its predecessors have allowed Huawei to become the world's second largest smartphone manufacturer in terms of market shipments.
But, at this crucial moment the company whose subsidiaries also manufacture and sell networking equipment in the United States and Europe, will be forced to put a break on this growth. Huawei's American suppliers range from big giants like Intel to smaller companies selling optoelectronics, and a complete shift to either in-house manufacturing or alternatives elsewhere will require time.
In light of its recent tussles with the US government, aftermarket, trade-in prices for the Huawei P30 Pro have collapsed. Initially, as reported by Forbes, trade-in website MusicMagpie had put a measly $130 purchase price for the 128GB P30 Pro. Since then, while MagicMagpie's offer has been taken down by the company, others (including Samsung) continue to offer as little as $190 for a device with a $539 price tag.
These prices, lest we need to remind you, are a bargain for the smartphone's hardware. Like any other device, the P30 Pro has had its problems, but these haven't lessened the smartphone's impact on the smartphone market. However, the gamble surrounding Huawei's gadgets right now is Google's Android support. If the company doesn't witness the extension of its temporary license to trade with American company's this August, it will be unable to introduce future versions of Android on its current gadgets.
