There will always come an instance when a good photo becomes useless due to an unintended object or person in the foreground or background. Previously, you had little control over what you can do in this situation but scrap the photo altogether. However, Google has rolled out a feature that allows users to magically erase an object or a person from the photo and blend it together as if it never existed. Now, Google's Magic Eraser has finally made it to the iPhone through the Google Photos app.
You can now use Google's Magic Eraser on your iPhone but it comes with a minor catch
Magic Eraser is a necessity if you are an avid mobile photographer. I have used the feature countless times to make the photo my own without any distractions. Initially, the Magic Eraser feature was limited to the flagship Pixel lineup. Later on, Google expanded the feature to additional models. Now, the search engine giant has brought the feature to the iPhone but there is a minor catch.
If you want to use Google's Magic Eraser on your iPhone, you will have to make use of the Google Photos app. The catch is that you should have a Google One subscription plan to make use of the Magic Eraser feature on your iPhone. There is no minimum limit on the subscription plan and you can get it for as low as $1.99 per month which will get you 100 gigabytes of cloud storage. Apart from the expanded storage, you will also be able to get your hands on the new Magic Eraser feature and much more. If you are not familiar, this is how you can use Google's Magic Eraser on your iPhone.
Step 1: The first thing that you have to do is launch the Google Photos app on your iPhone and select the photo that you want to remove the unintended object.
Step 2: Once you do that, simply tap on the Edit button and then select Tools.
Step 3: Now, tap on the Magic Eraser button. The Magic Eraser will study the photo for any potential distractions and present you with selections that you can remove.
Step 4: Apart from this, you can also manually select the object from your finger that you want to remove. Simply circle around the object that you want to remove and watch the magic happen.
(In this case, we have selected the twigs trapped in the frozen water.) You can check the before and after differences.
Step 5: Once you are done erasing the objects, simply tap on Done to save the changes.
This is all that you have to do to remove unwanted people and objects from your photos. The process is fairly simple and the best part of that you do not require the use of any additional third-party apps. Again, if you want to use the Magic Eraser feature on your iPhone, you would have to subscribe to the Google One subscription.
