Apple announced and released Apple Intelligence to developers at its WWDC event, and the service received a pretty good response overall. The platform does not revolve around a single language model but operates on several of them, big and small, working together on various fronts of iOS. For instance, ChatGPT integration is available with Siri and not the rest of the operating system, which shows that the company is using a multi-modal approach. Initially, Apple Intelligence would only be available in the United States, but if you are interested, there is a workaround that will allow you to use the service in other countries.
How to enable Apple Intelligence in countries where it is not supported at the moment
At launch, only the iPhone 15 Pro and the iPhone 15 Pro Max are eligible to use Apple Intelligence, and alongside, the iPhone 16 lineup will also be able to make use of the service. You have the option to use Apple Intelligence in other countries outside of the United States using a simple workaround. All you have to do is change the location or region settings on your iPhone or iPad, and you are good to go. If you are not sure how to do it, we have devised step-by-step instructions that will enable you to use Apple Intelligence in other countries.
Before you proceed, there are a few prerequisites that you have to follow. The first thing that you have to do is install the latest iOS 18.1 beta, which carries the Apple Intelligence features. Note that if you are running iOS 18 beta, then you will not be able to use the service. Once you are running the latest beta of iOS 18.1, carefully follow the listed instructions below:
Step 1: Launch the Settings app on your iPhone and head over to General > Language & Region.
Step 2: Tap on Add Language and select English (US).
Step 3: Now tap on Region and select United States. (The change will have no impact on your Apple Store regions or purchases.)
Step 4: Go back to Settings and head over to Apple Intelligence & Siri.
Step 5: Tap on Language and select English (US).
Step 6: Once you do that, tap on Join the Apple Intelligence Waitlist.
Step 7: You will have to wait for a while for Apple Intelligence to be enabled. After a while, the message will change to Turn On Apple Intelligence.
This is all that you have to do to enable Apple Intelligence on your iPhone if you are residing outside of the United States. The process is fairly simple and basically tells Apple's servers that the iPhone that you are using is located within the U.S. You will be able to enjoy all the latest Apple Intelligence features that Apple has added in the first beta of iOS 18.1. Later on, in subsequent beta builds, the company will add more features for testing before it is officially rolled out to the general public.
