A scene from 'Crimson Desert' shows a character interacting with beggars on a cobblestone street, with the text 'Why You Should Max Beggars' Trust Immediately' overlaid.

Crimson Desert features a vast array of intricate mechanics that are rarely explained in detail. One of the most overlooked is the Trust system, which allows Kliff to establish lasting bonds with nearly every NPC in the game, including dogs and cats. While the reward for befriending animals is to turn them into pets that accompany the Greymanes' captain, the benefits of befriending human NPCs are more varied, depending if they are vendors or regular NPCs.

However, there is one category of NPCs you should prioritize maxing out as quickly as possible: beggars. Not only is it incredibly simple to do, but it transforms them into a consistent source of upgrade materials.

How to Maximize Trust with Beggars

While traveling through the major cities of Pywel, such as Hernand, you will frequently encounter beggars seeking a copper or two to survive.

Getting Your Free Upgrade Materials

Once you have maxed your Trust with a beggar (or with any other non-vendor NPC), they will offer Kliff free items when he visits them, including:

While these are not rare materials, they are used for the first several refinement levels of your gear. If you enjoy experimenting with different gear sets or upgrading multiple weapons, the Return on Investment for a meager 2 copper coins is massive, essentially making these materials free.

NOTE: The beggars function with 48-hour in-game timer, and will only hand out resources when their position on the mini-map is indicated with a small blue hand icon.
