Google Cloud lets you print wirelessly with the help your Android device. It links your printer with your Chrome account and device to print on the move. Google has created a cloud printing app that works with your printer connected to Wi-Fi or to your computer through USB.
As nifty as it sounds, but the process of setting up the service is a bit complex, which is why we are here to guide you. Here’s how you can set up Google Cloud Print within Chrome on your desktop/laptop to begin printing from your Android device. You just need to register your printer on Google Cloud Print, which will connect it to the internet and let you take printouts as long as you have good internet connectivity.
Before proceeding, you must know that most of the printers are compatible with this service by Google but there are still a few that don't make it to the list. Setting up your Printer with Google Cloud Print
- Open Google Chrome browser on your computer
- Sign in to your Google account if you are not logged in
- Open “Menu" in Chrome (three vertical dots icon in the upper right corner) and then click on "Settings."
- Now, click on "Show advanced settings." and then select "Google Cloud Print"
- Click on "Manage" and then "Add Printers."
- Google will now show you a list of all available printers, select the ones that you want to add and then click on "Add Printers."
- It will detect your printer automatically and you’re all set to use it now
Using your Android device for taking printouts
Most of Android device come with bulit-in Google Cloud Print, but if your phone does not have it then you can go ahead and download it from the Play Store. Once you download it then the app will do its work in the background, which means you don't need to open it for giving the print command. However, you just need to make sure that Google account on your phone and desktop is the same.
- Open the document or image that you want to print
- Select the Menu button (three vertical dots in the top right corner).
- If you can’t find the option there then you can save the image or document to Google Drive and then carry out the function
- Now, click on “Print” and on the new page click on “Save as PDF”
- It will now show you the list of added printers, choose the one that you want to use
- After checking all the details, click on "Print" and your printer will start printing
Similarly, you can also print web pages and email by following this process:
- Open Gmail or Google Chrome
- Click on "Menu" button and then select "Print" option from the drop down list. In case you can't find the print option in the list then tap on "Share" and you will get the Print option.
- You will be taken to a printing page wherein you will have to select the printer that you want to use
- After selecting the printer, click on “Print" and your printer will follow the command.
